Barry was out of town this year (visiting our son in Chicago) so I got to do anything I wanted to do. Started the day with a nice walk with Gemma and our Sunday morning dog walk group and then came home and washed some new Llama fiber that a friend gave me. I spent the afternoon knitting and then out to dinner with Pennie and her family, our Mothers' Day tradition. The pictures are of the flowers sent to me by my son and my husband, each including one yellow rose for a special vase that Josh had sent to me last year. The card is hand drawn by Pennie and is the first time that she called me Mama instead of Mom (which is a good thing) and of course some pictures of our dinner with the boys being boys...all in all, a wonderful day!

Spinning Road Trip
Two Saturdays ago, a few friends and I went on a short road trip to another friends house in the country...way, way, out in Down East, Maine for some spinning, chatting and eating. I tried to post this before, but I am so new to this and was trying to do something different with this post, I spent one of my last free afternoons, all three hours of it, trying and finally just deleted the entire mess and gave up. Here is another attempt, nothing fancy this time, just some pictures and a few words. We went in two cars, squeezing our wheels in the back of the cars. Everyone brings something to eat, I, as usual, brought chocolate and a lot of spinning and knitting was accomplished. I also thought it would be fun to see all of the different wheels that were being used that day. I only have one more spinning Saturday left before my innkeeper life takes over again, leaving me very little time off for much of anything, although I always make time for the Fiber Frolic in June. I will post more about that when it gets closer. I am also including some pictures of my unfinished projects from this winter, a blanket I am knitting squares for from my home spun for my grand baby, a sweater (probably the last time I will knit with store bought yarn) and some angora rabbit fiber from my sweet bunny Fionna that I am hand carding and blending with some wool...maybe I will work on them a little this summer, if not, it will all be waiting for me in November...

No Pictures. Bummer!!!
I was really hoping to have some pictures to post today, but I can't find the wire to connect my camera to the computer...I hope I haven't lost it, that would not be a good thing...so I will make this a brief posting, just to let anyone that is actually reading this know that I am still alive...I did go to Florida with my daughter and two grandchildren and I do have wonderful pictures from the trip, but they will have to wait...we had a great time but I was certainly tired and happy to get home, specially since I caught a cold while there and was not feeling well. I learned why they say never to fly with a cold, the landing was very hard on my poor, blocked ears and I thought I would never recover my hearing...but I am well now and have been busy since getting home. Hubby and I spent a wonderful evening in Bath, Maine at a great B&B, and then a fantastic concert of Celtic music by Battlefield Band. We did the same thing last year and I hope we make it an annual outing.
It is Spring here in Maine, the first Spring I remember since moving here 23 years ago...I have been out walking my, now confirmed, over weight dog, as much as possible...but also leaving time for some spinning and knitting. A new friend of mine from the mid-west sent me about five Llama fleeces ...if I expect to finish them before I die, I have to get to work on them...of course, I have some great pictures of those also, but they will have to wait...I did finish spinning up some beautiful red wool that I don't have a clue as to what to do with yet (pictures to follow) and I am still working on my grandson's quilt and knitted blanket...I have three blocks finished for the wool blanket...
My one small change for this month of making sure lights are out when not in use is coming along fine and I already know the change for next month...but that will wait...so until I can get some pictures posted, I will close for today...

No pictures today but I did want to make a post, just in case someone is actually reading these. I follow along with a few other blogs (I hope to make a list one of these days) and a few of those women have a thing going on for a few months about making one small change for the for the good of the earth. My change for February was to make sure that we always bring our clothe bags with us for shopping...not just to the market but to regular stores as well...I even made a clothe bag for produce in the market (I have to make a few more)...it is amazing how many plastic, as well as, paper bags, I am not bringing home anymore...even have Barry doing it (most times). My small change for March is to remember to shut off lights in rooms that we are not actually in...I have been very bad with this lately and so I think this will be a good change for us.
So, on another note, I am off to Florida with my daughter and two grand babies...to see my Dad. I will be back in a week, hopefully with some wonderful pictures. Till then my friends...
